The making of… automated drone cargo port 2.0.

2025 stands for upgrading the second automated Drone Cargo Port – DCP – integrating innovative weight reduction strategies and supporting more drone types. As technology evolves, so must the DCP, making the supply chain smarter, faster and more efficient.

Introducing innovative weight reduction strategies.

The construction of the second drone cargo port marks another leap in the evolution of integrated drone logistics and air transport. One of the challenges of building such a cutting-edge facility lies in ensuring that the structure is optimized for both performance and efficiency. This has led to a more precise implementation of advanced weight reduction strategies in the construction process. The double-digit weight reduction goal was overachieved with an 11%, whilst keeping the top industrial quality standard in place.
The refined weight reduction strategies allow more flexible installation of the DCP on buildings or at ground level.

Landing platform.

As drone technology continues to evolve, so must the infrastructure that supports it. The second drone cargo port is now undergoing significant upgrades of its landing platform to accommodate like the first DCP, a wide variety of drones, expanding its capacity and versatility in the logistic sector.

With drones varying in size, battery type, and docking requirements, the landing platform of the new DCP will be equipped with improved gripper and positioning systems. This ensures that whether it’s a small delivery drone or a larger, heavy-lift model, each can land efficiently and charge quickly.

An excellent example of outstanding teamwork between our mechanical and automation engineers, alongside our technicians who built the DCP, in collaboration with the client.

Conclusion

The upgrade of the first automated drone cargo port will significantly expand its capabilities, by introduction weight reduction strategies and upgrading its landing platform. The DCP will be prepared to handle the next generation of drone technology, driving the future of efficient and dynamic cargo delivery. The Avercon team is proud to contribute to this community-oriented and innovative project, and making it future-proof. An automation project that is perfectly suited to Avercon’s expertise.
